Hours of Fun
Over the years, our calligraphy school has had hundreds of international students who studied with us for 1-4 years, and tourists who spent 1-3 hours of their visit in Japan learning the basics of Japanese Calligraphy.
Let's have fun together!
Visiting Japan soon? Want to experience Japanese Calligraphy?
Our school, Calligraphia Japan, offers two types of courses for short-term tourists, which can be taken anytime
Master the Basics: Learn the proper way to hold the brush, ensuring a strong foundation for your calligraphy journey.
Stroke Order: Understand the importance of stroke order in creating beautiful and accurate Chinese characters (kanji), a fundamental aspect of calligraphy.
Brush Stroke Techniques: Explore various brush stroke techniques that bring characters to life, each stroke reflecting a blend of precision and artistry.
Line Styles: Discover the different line styles used in calligraphy, from bold and strong to delicate and graceful, each telling its own story.
Calligraphia Japan offers 2 different courses which you can join depending on how much time you have and how much in-depth you’d like to understand the fine art of calligraphy.
Basic Course (11,000 Yen) – runs for 60 minutes. In this course, you will learn the basics of calligraphy, stroke order, techniques, and line styles using our worksheets.
Special Course (16,500 Yen) – runs for 90 minutes, which will dive deeper into calligraphy as an age-old art form.
For both courses, you will get to take home your work.
You can also come empty-handed – all materials and equipment are all provided for.
